How to use Pre-Roll Custom URL Advertisement in Videos

Open the CASTNEST portal, then choose "Videos" from the drop-down menu. You'll see the list of uploaded videos in the video workspace.

Choose "Advertisement" from the menu.

Here you have multiple options for pre-roll ad insertion.

Publishers can integrate an ad server that shares ad content in XML format. VAST is one of the support techniques. Type the URL starting with HTTPS:// and press the save button.

The setting will update with a success alert at the top left corner of the screen with the title "Success" and the message "Pre-Roll VAST Insert Successfully."

Without the Skip Option

Now it's time to test your video and see your ad in action Click on the "Sharing" option of the video control panel and click on the player share button. A new browser window will open with the player playing the ad and will not have the option to skip the ad.

After playing the ad, the published video starts to autoplay in the player.

Let's implement the "Skippable Ad."

Let's choose the "Advertisement" option from the video control panel and change the URL to the skippable ad.

• The ad server sets the timer to skip the ad for viewers.
• Press the save button. The settings will update with a success alert at the top left corner of the screen with the title "Success" and the message "Pre-Roll VAST Insert Successfully."

Now go back to the "Sharing" option of the video control panel and click on the player share button. A new browser window will open with the player playing the ad. Now the viewer will have the option to skip the ad.

• The timer will count down the seconds until the ad is displayed.

After a defined time, the viewer will have the "Click to Skip" button to view the video.

• After clicking the button "Click to Skip", the published ad disappears immediately, and the video will start playing automatically in the player.
