How to add video THUMBNAIL and POSTER

Let's say the publisher wishes to display a visual of his video material. An image aims to use an image to communicate with or identify the viewers of the content. CASTNEST provides two choices.

Thumbnail

This option is for the graphical depiction of the publisher.

Poster

Before pressing the play button, the viewer player might choose this choice.

Access the video control panel using the "Videos" option from the main menu. All uploaded videos are listed in reverse chronological order from the upload date by the video menu option.

You have not uploaded any videos yet and need to learn how to upload them. Follow the document "How to Upload Video."

For assigning a "thumbnail" and a "poster"? A click on any video will open the video control panel with several configuration options.

From the video control panel's left menu list, "General" will be the first screen displayed by default. The screen will have the options of "Thumbnail" and "Poster"! Note that both options are graphical representations, and the publisher can use an image. Note that publishers can use similar images for both options.

• Let's upload an image by clicking on the thumbnail box showing a cloud with an upward arrow.

• This click will open your local system file explorer.
• Choose any image you want to assign as a thumbnail to this stream, and press "Select" or "Ok" based on your local machine operating system in the file explorer. The selected image will be uploaded in a couple of seconds and appear in the thumbnail box with the message "Uploaded Successfully" in a green rectangular box displayed at the top centre of the portal screen.

Note that this thumbnail is for your graphical representation of the video.

Using the same process, you can upload the poster image. Again, note that this poster image will be displayed as an image when the viewer tries to access the video and will remain there until the viewer presses the play button.

Now let's verify how the assigned thumbnail and poster are getting viewed. Castnest Portal's main menu button, "Videos," will take you to the newly uploaded video workspace. Check your video for the thumbnail assigned to be displayed with the image selected.

Now verify that the poster appears to the viewer. Click on the video to be updated with a thumbnail and poster. It will display the video control panel. Click on the "Player" menu option on the video control panel. The player preview shows the assigned poster.

Now let's verify the actual player. Click on the "Sharing" menu option on the video control panel.

Now click the share arrow button to open the player in another window with the assigned poster.
