CASTNEST helps their users with advertisements through video content. As we understand, it is a must to include adverts to make money from the video content published. Publishers have always wished for this connection to have flexible options. There are several ways to add integrations to CASTNEST. In this document, we concentrate on post-roll video ad insertion.
Let's read through the following document.
Learn how to post videos because you haven't done it yet. Observe the "How to Upload Video." document.
Open the CASTNEST portal, then choose "Videos" from the drop-down menu. Your newly created video list will be visible.
When you click on a video uploaded, the video control panel's "General" section will open up for editing.
From the video menu, pick "Advertisement."
Here you have multiple options for post-roll ad insertion.
- Video Upload
- Upload Image
- Make use of a custom ad server URL.
We will focus on the video ad upload in this document. By default, pre-roll configuration options will be visible with the Upload Video radio button selected.
- Click on
- Choose
- Click
Video Upload
- In the video upload option, you can upload a video clip you want to play at the end of the video playback. Click on the grey box with the white box that has a cloud and an animated up arrow, and your local system file manager window will pop up. Choose the directory where the ads are. Choose a video clip and press the Select or Upload button on the file manager. This naming convention to upload the file will depend on your operating system. The uploaded videos get saved in the storage area of your account.
- The uploaded ad video will appear in the player by replacing the grey box.
At the bottom of the player, the option to set the "Skip Timer" is available.
If the publisher does not allow the viewer to skip, the "Skippable-ad" toggle button will remove the skip ad option for the viewer, and the ad must play before playing the video. Let's switch off the "skippable-ad" and press the "save" button.
The setting will be updated with a success alert at the top left corner of the screen with the title "Success" and the message "Successfully Updated."
Now it's time to test your video and see your ad in action Click on the "Sharing" option of the video control panel and click on the player share button. A new browser window will open with the player playing the video content.
When the video playback reaches the middle of the content published, the advertisement video will begin automatically in the player.
Let's implement the "Skippable Ad." Go back to the "Advertisement" option from the video control panel and turn on the "Skippable Ad" by clicking the toggle button. Set the seconds after which the viewer can skip the ad and press the save button. Again, the setting will update with a success alert at the top left corner of the screen with the title "Success" and the message Now go back to the "Sharing" option of the video control panel and click on the player share button.
A new browser window will open with the player playing the video content.
Now go back to the "Sharing" option of the video control panel and click on the player share button.
A new browser window will open with the player playing the video content.
When the video playback reaches the middle of the content published, the advertisement video will begin automatically in the player. Now the viewer will have the option to skip the ad in 3 seconds.
After 3 seconds, the viewer will have the "Click to Skip" button to view the video.
When a viewer clicks on the "Click to Skip" button, the published ad disappears immediately, and the video will replay.
