CASTNEST recognises that advertisements are an essential component of live streams. It helps publishers generate revenue from published content. Publishers have always desired easily adaptable options for this integration. CASTNEST provides several options for adding integrations.

Let's take a look at the document below.

Open the CASTNEST portal and navigate to the "Live Streams" section from the main menu. You'll see your newly created stream list.

Please refer to the document if you have not yet created a stream.

"How to Create a Stream using a Webcam."

"How to Create a Stream using PUSH."

"How to Create a Stream using PULL."

"How to Create a Stream using SRT."

Click on a stream to open the stream control panel with the "General" tab for stream configuration.
Select the "Advertisement" option from the stream control panel.

Here you have multiple options for pre-roll ad insertion.

  • Video Upload
  • Upload Image

Make use of a custom ad server URL.

We will focus on the video ad upload in this document. By default, pre-roll configuration options will be visible with the Upload Video radio button selected.

  • Click on
  • Choose

The URL of your ad server

Publishers can integrate an ad server. VAST is one of the support techniques. The publisher can add the URL starting with HTTPS:// to the given field and press the save button.

The setting will update with a success alert at the top left corner of the screen with the title "Success" and the message "Pre-Roll VAST URL Inserted Successfully."

Without the Skip Option

Now it's time to test your stream and see your ad in action Click on the "Sharing" option of the stream control panel and click on the player share button. A new browser window will open with the player playing the ad and will not have the option to skip the ad.

After playing, the published stream will start automatically in the player.

Let's implement the "Skippable Ad." Go back to the "Advertisement" option from the stream control panel and change the URL to the skippable ad.

The ad server gives viewers a timer for viewing the ad.

Pressing the save button setting will update a success alert at the top left corner of the screen with the title "Success" and the message "Stream Successfully Updated."

Now go back to the "Sharing" option of the stream control panel and click on the player share button. A new browser window will open with the player playing the ad. Now the viewer will have the option to skip the ad.

  • The timer will count down the seconds until the ad is displayed.
After a defined number of seconds, the viewer will have the "Click to Skip" button to view the stream
By clicking the "Click to Skip" button on the player, the published ad disappears immediately, and the stream will start playing automatically in the player.
