CASTNEST includes the ability to generate multiple screen resolutions for the published stream. This feature allows viewers to choose the screen resolution on the player based on the user's internet connection speed and screen size.
Let's take a look at the document below.
You haven't already created a stream. Please read the support documentation.
If you've already created streams, go ahead and open the CASTNEST portal and select "Live Streams" from the main menu. You'll see your newly created stream list.
Please refer to the document if you have not yet created a stream.
"How to Create a Stream using a Webcam."
"How to Create a Stream using PUSH."
On this screen, publishers have a choice of screen resolution size checkboxes.
Let's assume the publisher is broadcasting a stream of 720 pixels and wants this to be available in all sizes.
- 320 pixels
- 480 Pixels
- 720 Pixels
- 1080 Pixels
It's best to practise transcoding and choose a lower screen resolution than the broadcast stream.
Choosing a higher resolution than the broadcast stream will distort the pixel quality.
In this example, we choose all the available options for the test and preview the player. You can click the checkboxes required and press the "Save" button.
The update button will update the configuration, showing a "Success" alter at the right corner of the browser screen with the message "Stream Transcoding Submitted Successfully."
The "Save" button will change to "Update." Also, a "Disable" button will appear next to the "Update" button.
Update Button
The "update" button is for future changes.
Let's assume that the publisher decides to make a change in the transcoded screen sizes.
For a change, the publisher has to check or uncheck the boxes and press the "Update" button to update the changes.
Disable Button
- The disable button switches off the transcoding feature of the selected stream. On pressing the Disable button, the Update button will change back to Save, and the Disable button will disappear.
A new browser window will open with the player. Let's click the play button once your stream is in play mode. From the bottom player control, select the settings icon. A setting pop-up will appear showing "Quality" and "Speed" options. The default values for "Quality" are "Auto" and "Speed" as "Normal."
.
Click the "Auto" button to list your selected transcoding applied to the stream. In Auto mode, the player adjusts the screen quality of the stream according to the viewer's available bandwidth. The viewer has the choice to fix the screen resolution by selecting an option from the list.
